Coca-Cola wished good luck to Azerbaijan for Baku 2015 inaugural European Games

Coca-Cola together with the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan organized a reception for Azerbaijani National Team members who will compete in the First European Games to be held on June 12-28 in Baku, Azerbaijan. About 80 athletes participated in the event where Coca-Cola, the official partner of inaugural European Games, wished good luck to Azerbaijani athletes and the organizers of the Games.

Speaking at the event, CEO of Baku 2015 Operations Committee, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, Mr Azad Rahimov talked about the readiness of Baku to host European Games: “A few days left till the inaugural European Games and Azerbaijan is ready to host this great sport event. In short period of time we have done enormous work to prepare for the Games. We have built new roads, new venues, parks and today we are ready to host Baku 2015. I am thankful to Coca-Cola and all of our partners in supporting our athletes and us to deliver successful games. We wish our athletes good luck in this historical Games and hope Azerbaijan will soon become one of the major sport destinations of the world.”

Mr. Chingiz Huseynzade, Vice President of Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee (NOC), thanked Coca-Cola for its support to the Games and for the valuable partnership with the NOC in promoting active and healthy lifestyle in Azerbaijan: “Azerbaijan is ready to host first European Games in June 12-28. ¬†We are looking forward to celebrate historic victories of our athletes. Everyday starting from June 14 onwards together with Coca-Cola we will be greeting and congratulating the medalists at the NOC. We believe that Baku 2015 Games and our athletes’ success will be great source of inspiration for people to lead engage in sports and active living”

Chef-de-Mission of Azerbaijan Ms. Konul Nurullayeva informed participants that compared to London-2012 where Azerbaijan had only 53 athletes, in first European Games Azerbaijan will be represented with 291 athletes. She mentioned that over 6000 athletes from 50 countries of Europe will participate in Baku 2015 Games to compete in 20 sports, 12 of which will provide qualifications for Rio-2016.

General Manager of Azerbaijan Coca-Cola Bottlers Mr. Cem Becel expressed his excitement for having an opportunity to wish good luck to Azerbaijan for hosting major sporting event of Europe. He emphasized the role of Baku 2015 Games in contributing to development and promotion of sports as well as active and healthy living in Azerbaijan: “Coca-Cola, the official partner of Baku 2015 European Games, supports promotion of active and healthy living in over 100 countries worldwide as its contribution to well-being of communities. We believe that first European Games, to be held in Baku this June, will have a lasting positive impact towards the well-being of society in Azerbaijan. We are confident that Azerbaijani athletes with their great victories will inspire thousands to engage in sports and active lifestyle. We are proud to be the part of Azerbaijan’s history in hosting the European Games and wish best of luck to the National Team of Azerbaijan.”

Official speeches were followed with lively performance of Coca-Cola Anthem on Baku 2015 by popular singer of Azerbaijan, Baku 2015 Celebrity Ambassador Tunzale Agayeva. The event was concluded with presentation of custom-made Coca-Cola bottles to Azerbaijani athletes. Athletes were very happy to receive the bottles with their names and their respective sport pictograms on them. Everyone came together for photo-session to express their support for the athletes.
