Closer to the end of 1922 Azerbaijan Trade Union joined the works in the field of physical culture and sport. This organization establishes sportive society through its line, renders special assistance in the establishment of the material-technical basis in the republic. In 1923 the first sportive newspaper "Red sportsman" was published in Azerbaijan. In the same year the school training physical culture teachers was opened in Baku. The school was preparing the teachers and specialists training in various kinds of sport. It gave an impulse for the development of other kinds of sport along with the traditional ones. For example, if in 1920 there were two basketball societies in Azerbaijan, in 1924 already 52 basketball collectives were organized, in two years number of such collectives had reached 300. Those years boxing groups were organized in Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute and Central Physical Culture House. Sportive competitions on swimming, water polo and dive, as well as sportive festivals were conducted in the country very often. In wrestling and heavy athletics clubs a lot of sport fans were training. In 1924 Rza Bakhshaliyev established wrestling club named "Kustrud" and French wrestling - modern free-style wrestling group was organized there. Natives of "Kustrud" were competing with the famous wrestlers - Sali Suleymanov, Rashid Yusifov, Fyodor Margentanger, Andrei Lodz, Eldar Goychayli and other in our country and beyond its borders. Along with "Kustrud", such sportive societies as "Dinamo", "Temp", "Lokomotiv" and Central Physical Culture House were active.

Along with the competitions over separate kinds of sport, complex sportive tournaments were organized in the republic. For example, it is very interesting fact that in 1925 the competitions under the "Olympic Games" were conducted in our country. According to the program of this Olympiad, the competitions over the various kinds of light athletics were included in the program. This is an obvious indicator showing the propaganda of the Olympic ideals among the youth in conditions when it is impossible to join world games, great interest to the Olympic Games.
