It is known that under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee every year the event of International Olympic Marathon race is conducted in the world. National Olympic Committee participates actively in this event as well. In the beginning the marathon race day was organized only in the capital of the country Baku city, then, it has been conducted at wider scale. In the last two years International Marathon race day has been conducted in Ganja city of the republic, too. This tradition is continuing. National Olympic Committee intends to expand geography of the marathon race day in future.

In the last ten years in the Olympic committee great notice is given to the Olympic Movement, studies of our Olympus. In 1997 Executive Committee of the NOC took a decision on establishment of the National Olympic Academy and realized it in April 1998 and Republican National Olympic Academy was established. Academy held republican conferences dedicated to the Olympic history, our Olympus. Along with Azeri scientists, Moscow and Georgian scientists were participating in the conference. The recent event of the National Olympic Academy was a scientific-practical conference connected with the ten-year jubilee of Azerbaijan Olympic Committee. In this conference the speeches on the history of Olympiad, activity of the National Olympic Committee were listened.

In the Olympic Committee information and publication works were organized. The first edition of the "Olympia" magazine of Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee was published in May 1998. This magazine published in Azeri and English languages is sent to International Olympic Committee, National Olympic Committee of various countries, international federation and sportive organizations. At present, the magazine is sent to over three hundred senior department and organizations of the world.

Since 1999 National Olympic Committee has started publishing its monthly bulletin.

In 2000 National Olympic Committee published the book "Azerbaijan at XXVII Olympic Games". In the book published on the eve of Sydney Olympic Games brief information on the history of Olympic Movement in our republic is collected. The book was distributed among the representatives of various countries, magazineists, sportsmen, Olympic specialists in Sydney.

Expansion of the activity circle of the National Olympic Committee, expanding interest to the Olympic Movement in the country, sport has enriched necessity of gaining additional operative information. Taking into consideration this fact, National Olympic Committee instituted new publishing body. Since November 2001 National Olympic Committee has started publishing weekly eight-page "Olympic world" newspaper. Along with operative information related to the Azerbaijan Olympic Movement and sport, news in the International Olympic Movement, interesting materials on the world sport were published in the pages of the magazine. At present, this newspaper has turned into one of the most interesting and favorite ones in the republic.

Since 1998 National Olympic Committee has carried out considerable work connecting with the construction and putting into exploitation, reconstruction and reestablishment of number of sportive and Olympic objects in the republic. The Committee put into exploitation the first object in Baku in 2000 and gave it for the use of the sportsmen. In 2001 two objects were put into exploitation. One of these objects was administrative building of the National Olympic Committee, another - sportive center built in Mashtaga settlement of Baku.
