The holding of international class competitions in our country has become a tradition. Such grand tournament holding in our country for the last periods indicates on rapid development of sport in Azerbaijan. Thus have not sent participants of the 45 European Wrestling Championship held in Baku from 2-4 May Baku, met women handball teams from five countries. Handball players from Georgia, Moldova, Greece, Israel and Belgium arrived in Baku in order to participate in the second "Challenge Trophy" tournament.

It should be mentioned that this event is one of the greatest events arranged by the European Handball Federation among national teams. Teams that could not enter the first ten of winners however, who don't lag behind the strongest teams of the continent according to their level join to "Challenge Trophy" tournament. The tournament that has been held among women since 2000 was hosted for the first time in Belgium and they became the winners of that tournament.

The Azerbaijan handball players became the winners of this international tournament held in Baku. Our team got gold medals and received awards of the tournament.

Seven best players distinguished in the competition were announced at the end of the tournament. It is rejoicing that four of them are Azerbaijani handball players - Marina Jafarova, Sabina Babayeva, Olga Polyakova and Nino Sevsevadze.
