Within first five years of its existence, information and publication works in the activity of National Olympic Committee were absolutely unavailable. More exactly no work had been done in this field. Since 1997, newly elected direction of National Olympic Committee started to provide regular and operative coverage of works done in mass media of republic, collection of information on innovations and events in sport life of world and Azerbaijan, also on Olympic Movement, study of Olympic Movement, as well, delivery of information to international Olympic organizations about NOC activity. On this purpose, information and publication group was founded in Committee.

Information and publication group was also instructed to prepare, by joining an experience of international Olympic organizations, also of National Olympic Committees of other republics, journal to be introduced in international level, weekly paper to be distributed within republic and monthly information bulletin. In May of 1998, sport magazine was published for the first time in Azerbaijan's press history. So, first issue of "Olympia" magazine, organ of National Olympic Committee, was released.

Introduction ceremony of "Olympia" journal was held with participation of sport public, foreign guests at Baku Entertainment Center, on July 1 of 1998. President of National Olympic Committee gave a speech at the ceremony. He mentioned that publication of magazine will play important role in propaganda of sport in country and told that it was necessary to publish a magazine in two languages beginning from the next issue, also sending of journal to international Olympic and sport organizations, as well, National Olympic Committees of other countries.

Different articles on activities of National Olympic Committee, international and continental Olympic committees, development of sport in country, enlargement of Olympic Movement, increase of popularization of sport, international competitions held in country, history of Olympic Games and Olympic Movement are published in this magazine which is released in two languages beginning from 1998. One of issues of journal was dedicated to Olympic Days of European Juveniles held in Denmark in 1999 and Continental Championship held in Baku among cadets on Boxing.
