A flag-raising ceremony of the Azerbaijan Olympic delegation took place August 7 at 07.00 Baku time in Beijing`s Olympic village.
The ceremony brought together members of the Azerbaijani delegation including Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade, Azerbaijani Ambassador to China Yashar Aliyev and other officials.
The event was opened by the village`s Mayor Chen Zhili, who greeted the Azerbaijani delegation in Beijing Olympic Games held under the motto 'One Desire, One World'.
Chef de mission of the Azerbaijani delegation Ilham Madatov was invited to the rostrum and the flag of Azerbaijan was raised in the Olympic village to the sound of the national anthem of Azerbaijan.
